Xclusive make-up event by Nomsa Madida

Everyone who knows me well knows that I absolutely love make-up.
I don't have to wear it everyday, but I just have to have it!
I love pretty things and make-up is one of them!
Being in the TV industry has taught me a heck of a lot about make-up and I've got a few make-up tricks I'd like to share sometime soon.

This blogpost is about Nomsa Madida.
She's an amazing make-up artist who has done make-up for high profiled celebrities, for fashion shoots, magazine covers etc. She's one of the best in the industry and also happens to be one of my friends.
Last Saturday was the night of the long awaited Exclusive Make-Up Workshop by Nomsa Madida.
The turnout was fantastic and she did an awesome job sharing some of her make-up tips and teaching the ladies in attendance about make-up do's and don't s, day and night make-up,glam to plain make-up etc. There we lots of amazing give-aways on the night, which girl doesn't like an unexpected gift? Show me that girl and I will show you the door! You'd be lying!
There's also something about being in a room full of women, it doesn't happen very often so when it does... you all go into 'share' mode. You talk about everything, advise each other, laugh, talk about boys, work, style , fashion, the list goes on and on and on and on....

Here are some pics from the event.

And the lady of the night Nomsa Madida!

NOTE : I did not take these photos and didn't quite get the name of the photographer. Oops!

Spreading love on Vday

So I told you I'd be handing out roses to motorists on Valentine's Day. Myself and other media personalities gathered on Corner William Nicol and Sandton Drive in the early hours of Valentine's Day. We did what we went there to do.. put smiles on people's faces in a proudly South African way!
Some motorists were quite reluctant when they saw me approaching, refusing to open their windows until I'd shout " It's FREE" !! hehehe , I'd do the same. If it's free , hey you don't have to ask me again.. I'll take it!
Some just wouldn't take the roses regardless, oh well... their loss right?
All in all, such a fun morning and what better way to spend the day than by spreading and giving love to complete strangers.
A big congratulations and thank you to GP's gossip gangster Mika Stefano for putting this together and the team behind the initiative... Proudly South African.
You can visit Mika's blog here.

Here are some of the photos below.
These photos were not taken by me but by Mika's personal photographer.
You can see more of these pics here

What? You thought that was the only thing I did on Valentine's Day?
You're soooo mistaken child!
Vuzu and 5FM had their annual LoveSucks party!!
It was pretty cool to see a lot of single people in one place hoping to find love...
This is what Lee-Roy, El and I looked like when we arrived.

All in all, a really wonderful Valentine's Day!
And... I received roses from a not so secret admirer.. ya... I found out who he was!
Bummer!!!! I wish I didn't... don't ask!

Holy Spirit Rain Down - Hillsong

I haven't been to church in a while.. (not proud of this by the way).
I love this song... it's a perfect start and end to my day.
It makes me feel that much closer to God.
It clears my mind off all negativity and doubt.
I absolutely love it.
Have a listen.

Fat mirrors and Valentine's Day

It's a Monday evening and I'm so chilled on my couch. I had a long day which was absolutely amazing. I always say this to my friends and it's true... if I could just film everyday for the rest of my life, I'd be a happy chappie. I love being in front of the camera.

So I was shooting today and as soon as we wrapped, a shopping bug hit me! I just felt like shopping.. yeap, in the middle of the month...a day before Valentine's Day... right after a long ass shoot; all I wanted to do was shop and off I went to Cresta!

I went to Mr. Price and I swear their sizes change every month. A size 32 that fit me last month couldn't fit anymore and to top that, a 34 also refused to fit properly! I'm not in denial here, but I know for a fact that I didn't gain any weight!
And what is up with stores and their mirrors? They always have these mirrors that just seem to magnify every single dimple on your thighs.
Even the smallest of bruises becomes so large, you'd swear you were bitten by a frog instead of a mosquito (hahah, I know that frogs don't bite, I just thought it would be a funny comparison ok).
And NO, before you even think it, I don't have self-esteem or body issues.. it was just an observation that I'm sure you also thought about.
If not, next time you go to a department store... have a look at how much bigger you are in the mirror. Use the one in the fitting room.

If I owned a store, I'd remove all the 'fat' mirrors. How do they expect women to purchase clothing if the mirrors don't make them feel thin or sexy?
Dude, every woman wants to feel thin... not exactly be thin, but to at least feel it.
Where does one buy 'thin' mirrors? I think I'm onto something here. I could make a killing if I had a store that had thin mirrors.. if you feel great in something, you immediately want to buy it.

On to other news, it's Valentine's Day tomorrow and I'm so happy I could hug a tree. It's so weird how people don't understand my excitement though, they're on about Valentine's Day being overrated and asking why they should only express their love once a year. It's not even about that, not in my world anyway.
I reckon all the small cute things that you experience with your partner add up throughout the year and then can’t contain themselves anymore, so they explode on the 14th of Feb … yeah I crack myself too.

It feels to me like you’re renewing your ‘vows’ with your partner… it’s like an anniversary, just with a lot of couples and a few singles around the world joining in your party to celebrate all that is love.

I'm a hopeless romantic and a die-hard love fan.

I’ll be making people smile tomorrow morning. Mika Stefano, a celeb blogger asked me and other media personalities to hand out roses at an intersection in Johannesburg. Yep, we’ll be handing them out to motorists, it should be fun! I’m really excited…
I have a white top that I’ve already put aside, if only I had a red bow.
You’d be embarrassed wouldn’t you? A red and white outfit on Valentine’s Day? Who does that? I do that! I want to do that, I just don’t have a red bow to wear on my head!

I’ll let you know how it goes!

P.S : Don’t hate on Valentine’s Day, it just wants to be loved… come on.
And if you're going to go on a shopping spree, take your own mirror from home. There's a reason why you still have it... you trust it. If not, you'll go back home empty handed from your 'shopping spree' ... blame those mirrors at Mr.Price.

(ssshhhh....I lie, I bought the cutest skirt.. I'll blog about it soon).

I love love, I love loving and I love being loved

I know this is a bit long, but trust me it's worth the read. It's a beautiful story that I'm hoping changes the way you view the world around you. It was passed on to me and I had to share.

There was a blind girl that hated herself because she was blind. She hated everyone except her loving boyfriend. He was always there for her. She told her boyfriend, “If I could see the world, I’d marry you”. One day someone donated a pair of eyes to her. When the bandages came off, she was able to see everything, including her boyfriend. He asked her, “Now that you can see the world, will you marry me?” The girl looked at her boyfriend and saw that he was blind. The sight of his closed eyelids shocked her. She hadn’t expected that. The thought of looking at him for the rest of her life led her to refuse to marry him. Her boyfriend left her in tears and days later wrote a note to her saying; “Take good care of your eyes, my dear, for before they were yours, they were mine.”

This is how the human brain often works when our status changes. Only a very few remember what our life was like before, and who was always by their side in the most painful situations. Today before you say an unkind word – Think of someone who cant speak. Before you complain about the taste of your food -Think of someone who has nothing to eat. Before you complain about your husband or wife – Think of someone who’s crying out to GOD for a companion. Today before you complain about life – Think of someone who went too early to heaven. Before you complain about your children – Think of someone who desires children but they are barren.

Before you argue about your dirty house someone didn’t clean or sweep – Think of the people who are living in the streets. Before whining about the distance you drive -Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet. And when you are tired and complain about your job – Think of the unemployed, the disabled, and those who wish they had your job. But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another -Remember that not one of us is without sin and we all answer to one MAKER. And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down – put a smile on your face and thank GOD you’re alive!

Don't take anything or anyone for granted.

Our Deepest Fear - Marianne Williamson

Check out this poem, it is one of the most inspirational pieces of literature I have read and it keeps me inspired!
I have it stuck on my fridge and I read it all the time! I found out that it's actually not a poem at all, but an excerpt from A Return To Love, a book by motivational speaker and author Marianne Williamson.
Here is it... enjoy!!

Our Deepest Fear

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.

It is our light, not our darkness, that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant,
gorgeous, handsome, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God.

Your playing small does not serve the world.
There is nothing enlightened about shrinking
so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We are all meant to shine, as children do.

We were born to make manifest the glory of God within us.
It is not just in some; it is in everyone.

And, as we let our own light shine, we consciously give
other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our fear,
our presence automatically liberates others.

Stick in on your fridge for daily inspiration... you know you visit the fridge all the time... ;)
