MUST-WATCH!! Woolies and Soweto Gospel Choir: Madiba Tribute

This video touched my heart, gave me goosebumps and made me shed a tear.

What a beautiful flashmob tribute by the Soweto Gospel Choir.
Such heavenly voices and oh what a beautiful moment this is!

My Look Today

This is what I'm wearing today and I feel soooo sexay!!

In the spirit of trying new things, I'm trying out this whole 'sexy look' thing, which I've never attempted before and I think I like it.

What now?

I have been cracking my skull trying to figure out what new thing to try this week.
You know... in the spirit of trying one new thing each week like I promised.

I am still thinking about it!
If you have any ideas, do throw them my way, I'll even take dares!

Anyway, below is my state of mind right now!

I had an average weekend!
It truly could've turned out better, but I don't like complaining so I won't.

See? I'm ready for your dares!
Anything goes...
It's Dezemba after all!
What'chu got for me?

R.I.P Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela

"Death is something inevitable. When a man has done what he considers to be his duty to his people and his country, he can rest in peace. I believe I have made that effort and that is, therefore, why I will sleep for the eternity" - Nelson Mandela .

I am deeply saddened by the passing of the father of our nation, Tata Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela. As much as it hurts that he's gone, I am finding comfort in his words. He has indeed done what he considered to be his duty to his people and his country, including the rest of the world. As I celebrate his life and mourn his passing, I will carry on his legacy and do my bit to make the world a better place.

What a selfless man.

Rest In Peace Tata.

Tried something new...

So.... I did say I'd try something new every week right?
What did I do this week?
I wore a dress WITHOUT any stocking underneath!!

You're probably wondering why I am so excited about my little accomplishment...

Thing is, for the longest time I've been very insecure about my legs! I have not exposed my legs to the world in years because I've always thought I had big knees. I still think I do, but I just don't care anymore!

Friends would always go on about how they didn't understand my obsession and why I was even hiding my legs, but that's the thing about insecurities, people don't see what you see.

For YEARS, I wore long pants and because I really love short dresses, I always wore them with stockings...to 'cover up' and since I'm on TV, I'd always get questions about this and I'd always come up with some excuse about how I just love the way outfits look with stocking on, how this look just made me stand out...blah blah blah...

Not anymore!

I may not have the ''perfect'' legs, but I have legs!
I can walk, I can run, I am healthy, I'm alive.... and for that I am grateful.
People have much bigger problems out there!

I love every bit of my body, flaws and all!
Learning to love your body begins by letting go of those socially imposed ideals that are supposed to make the 'perfect' human being.

This is me, take me as I am.... 'big knees', thick thighs and all!

Any insecurities you have/had that you'd like to share?

Hair...cocktails... and a good cry!

Yes, I changed my hair again! I really enjoyed the braids, but I missed having a weave. My braids were starting to fall out and the endless trips to the hair salon for 'repairs' was getting tiring. I'm happy with my not so new 'new look'.
I get all my hair from Demi Godess, you can check them out on www.demigodess.com

I was out and about on Saturday! This past weekend's weather was gorgeous and I decided to go out for some yummy cocktails! It didn't hurt that the company was also super awesome!
I am thoroughly enjoying my weekends especially since I started having them all to myself. For 4 years I hosted a weekend breakfast radio show every Saturday and Sunday and hardly enjoyed time away from work to the fullest because I'd always worry about having to go to work the next day so I'd take it easy if do anything at all, turning down lunch/dinner invites had become my thing. It feels good to just kick back, relax and not worry about having to come up with interesting radio content for the next day. They'll come a time where I'll be doing it again and I won't complain about it,but right now I'm enjoying the break.
I'm relaxing more and more also because the festive season is fast approaching and I'm literally a month away from my Mozambique get-away with the girls. I have never been there before and have only heard great things about it, I hope it lives up to the hype!

I was shooting my TV show (Zaziwa) yesterday and it was quite stressful. We started way later than planned because of a technical crisis which really messed up our schedule, but we luckily recovered and got 3 out of 4 shows in the can. It's 3 very good shows so that's one thing I'm happy about. I always appreciate it when people, especially guests go out of their way to make the show a huge success!
I got home and feeling a little overwhelmed, I cried it all out. I'm a crier, I cry about everything and I keep doing it because I know how much better I feel once the 'crying session' is over. Some people scream and shout, some call a friend, some slip into a dark hole...
I cry.

All in all, I'm still in a good space.

#InstaShare

I follow a lady named Sihle Bolani on instagram and this is what she posted today. I loved the message so much that I reposted it on my insta page. I thought I'd also share with you.
It was a great reminder of how important it is to be mindful of the company you keep.

My weekend was all sorts of H.A.P.P.Y

Sooooooo..... I went to a wedding on Saturday!!
The reason I am excited about this is because I hadn't been to a wedding in years, I actually can't remember the last wedding I attended.

I have to say...
It. Was . Magical.

I also had a great date who ensured that I was well taken care of the entire time.
Being inside the church made me want to have a wedding of my own one day and I know it'll happen, I just don't want it to happen right now. I guess you just know when you're ready and right now.... I simply am not.

A friend of mine, Lindani Ndwandwa is a stylist and he hooked me up with this dress which is also part of his Lindani Styling collection. I felt amazing in it and it blended in beautifully with the 'traditional wedding' theme.
Thank you Lindani.

So the plan on Friday night was for me to watch a movie! I headed to Greenstone mall and to my disappointment, none of the movies out at the moment screamed "must-watch'' which was pretty sad, but I was delighted  to see all the Christmas decorations and just had to take a pic! The company was also not too shabby, I guess one of the reasons my smile is so wide in the pic!

I got a chance to see some of my family members on Sunday, partied a bit and saw some friends as well.
My weekend was filled with hearty laughs, great meaningful and meaningless conversations, I met some wonderful people at the wedding, I watched soccer and actually enjoyed it, I got to be driven around, I had lots of ice cream and didn't worry about 'a moment on the lips, a lifetime on the hips'....

My weekend was PERFECT.

Today

This is what I'm wearing today.
I'm having quite a chilled day at work and making the most of it before deadlines start creeping in again next week. I have scripts I need to write for the upcoming Zaziwa shoots and need all of my creative juices by the time I start writing.

In other news, I have been eating non-stop lately and the only explanation I have for this is that  I haven't been to gym in a long while. I automatically eat healthier when I train so I need to get back soon! I've honestly just been very lazy, let's blame it on this heat.

All in all, I am alright.
I'm following happiness

26 around the corner...

So, it looks like I have found the fountain of youth...hehehe. Well, only today. I woke up and literally said to myself "I want to look 21 today' and there I was trying to create a hairstyle that would make me look younger! I also tried to pull off poses that would come across as youthful as possible! Why? I have no freaken idea, it was so random.

Could it possibly be because I turn 26 in December?  That's one month away! What happened to me being 25? It's always so cool saying you're 25. It's not too old or too young, just right! I can't believe I'll be  in my LATE twenties next month! Before I know it, I'll be a 30 year old woman!
I'm gonna make 30 look so damn good!

Looking back at the 25 year old me, I think I did it justice. I made some major moves this year, grown up moves and decisions. I left 2 jobs to allow myself the opportunity to grow and be a better version of me.  I left my permanent comfortable environment that I had been a part of for 5 years to venture into what was at that time still an idea that has eventually turned into an amazing TV show that I get to produce content for and also host! For this , I am grateful.
I also left my job as a radio DJ so I could fully commit to this new venture that set my soul alight.

I won't lie, I miss radio terribly; but more often than not life requires us to break out of our comfort zone. I read somewhere that for maximum performance, one sometimes needs a state of relative anxiety - a space where our stress levels are slightly higher than normal. This space is called 'Optimal anxiety' and it's just outside our comfort zone. I felt a lot of this when I was making my decisions to leave my comfort zones and instead of being scared, I was actually excited about the possibilities that were awaiting my big leap of faith. I anticipated the big jump into the unknown and looking back, I have no regrets ! Life is about taking that chance and making the most of whatever it brings with it because every experience is a lesson and you really can't help but grow and learn from it whether it produces the results you were anticipating or not.

I am excited about my next leap of faith
I am excited about the endless possibilities that are awaiting my need for 'optimal anxiety'
I am excited about diving into the unknown once again
I am excited about life
I am excited about love
I am excited about turning 26.

Avon/Justine iThemba walkathon

I love doing good.  I love doing good for others. I love it when people smile because of something good I've done for them.

For quite some time, I have questioned what my purpose here on earth was and I wasn't able to find answers until now.
I questioned myself, I questioned friends... and I still couldn't figure out what my purpose was.
It wasn't until I started questioning God that it started becoming clear.

My purpose is to serve. My purpose is to make a difference in people's lives. My purpose is to make a positive contribution in the world. My purpose is to use the platform that I have to influence social change.

I was so happy when Avon/Justine asked me to MC their annual iThemba walkathon. The iThemba walkathon is in aid of Breast Cancer awareness and education and the message that early detection saves lives is at the crusade's core. Since 2001, R10 million has been raised through iThemba product sales and and donated to breast cancer awareness programmes that help women face the trauma and stress of cancer. This year saw 20 000 people walking in support of breast cancer awareness.

Being part of this special event made me feel like I was part of something that was bigger than me. I appreciated my life even more when I heard people share their stories of how cancer had affected their lives and it inspired me how through all the trauma, they still remained positive and optimistic about life. I felt so lucky to have been able to have one-on-one conversations with some of the survivors and gained so much strength from our conversations.

We often complain about life and how difficult it is to get through. Now imagine having to get through the difficulties of life while going through chemotherapy, while trying to fight for your life.
I take my hat off to all the cancer survivors! I cannot even begin to imagine what you're been through / still going through, but I applaud you for your strength and understand that it can't be easy.

Thank you to Avon/Justine iThemba for such a worthy cause. MCing the event ignited something in me. A need to get involved more, to really make a contribution in some way or another.
And... I WILL !
It is my purpose after all.

Wwee

A brand new kind of me...

So for weeks I've been itching to get braids and I finally did this past weekend!

In High School, I was that girl who always wore her hair in braids and so I decided to go back to basics and I'm really happy with my new look.

Is there anything new you've tried lately?

Hello Converse!

A few weeks ago I received an email from Converse SA with an invitation to attend the launch of their new summer range and being the Converse fan that I am, there was no way I was going to turn it down.
I arrived at their offices in the south of Johannesburg and it was evident that everyone in attendance was crazy about the brand! Fashionistas, bloggers and the likes shared in on the excitement as we carried on like kids in a candy store.

You will not believe how excited I was when we were told we could choose any 4 of the sneakers on display! The heavens literally opened...( a bit of an exaggeration here but hey, you get me)!

I picked the 4 that I liked and they were delivered yesterday. First to the wrong office, but I was lucky enough to have a gorgeous stranger named Diane receive them on my behalf and call to say there had been a mistake and that I should pop into her building to collect.
We do have good samaritans in the world, thanks Diane :)!

Below is one of the pairs I received!
I'll be posting pics of more pairs (when I find creative ways to display them) as soon as my creative juices start flowing, hehehe, where are the retail visual merchandisers when you need them?

SABC1 Celebrates 2013 Heritage Month - Pearl Modiadie

If you didn't understand a word of this, my apologies!
I was basically talking about my heritage and how my Tsonga mom and Pedi dad raised me in IsiZulu because that's the language they could both understand.
Yes, this makes me very special, hahaha!

I can speak both Pedi and Tsonga and well of course Zulu.
Where are you from and how many languages can you speak?

Salamina Mosese

You know, it's not everyday that you come across a phenomenal individual who touches your heart. Someone you just get along with, without trying too hard!

I think in every competitive industry including mine, it's not often that you genuinely connect with someone and get a chance to admire the person they are on a one-on-one level.
I guess this may be because life in the entertainment industry is so fast-paced, with everyone always rushing somewhere, everyone always having something to do or having other people to interact with when we all get together at events...it can get chaotic.

I'm very lucky to host a music talk show that gives me an opportunity to sit down with different media personalities and get to know them and their 'make-up'. Somehow my personality allows me to make instant connections with my guests which makes for great TV. Don't get me wrong, as good as they are for TV,they're also quite real. They don't all, however, live outside of the TV space.

Salamina Mosese was one of the guests on my show; her and I connected on a level I can't even find words to explain. She is such a beautiful woman with the warmest personality and one of the most authentic people I have ever encountered in my life.
She bares her soul without any fear of judgement ,she's quite a lady and her humility shines through every word she utters.
On the show she spoke openly about her life and even cried during her interview.
A good cry is always needed so I joined in and it felt great to be able to let it all out with Salamina.

I can't remember the first day I met her, but I know we both started on the same TV platform, a kiddies show called Craz-e! She started presenting years before I joined the team and I remember her leaving the show when I had just started in 2006.
She has since been involved in a lot of other productions as an actress and TV host and it's been amazing to witness her growth , both in her professional and personal life. She is married to a great man and they have a lovely daughter together. We're not really friends who interact on a daily basis, but she definitely has a special place in my heart.

Do visit her blog when you get a chance and read some of her candid thoughts on life, friendships, love and everything else :

I love Salamina Mosese!!

A picture is worth a thousand words

This picture explains exactly how I've been feeling lately. I'm in a happy place and with the end-of-year rush having approached and so much going on in this fast-paced and often unpleasant life, I have managed to find my oasis. I've always had a positive outlook on life and this may have a lot to do with my calm approach. Oh, there is also... a boy in the picture and he's making me smile a lot.
I'm happy!

Inanda African polo cup

A few weeks ago Refilwe from Total Exposure emailed me an invitation to attend the INANDA AFRICAN POLO CUP at the Inanda polo club in Sandton and I said yes!
The dress code was French Sophistication : Red, Blue and White.

I attended with a good friend of mine Morena and we had such a great time!
It was a fun day in the sun and this was our interpretation of the theme :

Here with talented musician and awesome chick Thiwe!

A big thank you to Lebogang Mgiba ( @Lebza4sho on twitter ) for the great pics!
I took a few pics with him too, but for some weird reason, he just wouldn't email me those! Oh well, lol.
