Child Trace - I Can't Be Bought fashion show
I was asked to MC the very first and official Child Trace I CAN'T BE BOUGHT fashion show that took place yesterday, an honour I could not refuse. I was so happy to take a stand against human trafficking through two of my favourite things, fashion and glamour.
We all went through the journey of a human trafficking victim using fashion as the story teller. From when someone is innocent ( we saw the innocent range here), to when they are trafficked (the trafficked range) and the finale was the end (the stop range) of human trafficking.
It is a cause that I truly support and wholeheartedly believe in. What would you do if you were bought and sold? What if the only fashion accessory you were allowed to wear was a price tag or a bar code?
I think that just by raising awareness about human trafficking, one would have already made a huge contribution to the fight against human trafficking. You too can do your bit to help. Go to the ChildTrace website and find out how.
The proceeds of the entire fashion show went towards the funding of all the Child Trace initiatives and I was more than happy to donate my services as the MC!
I'll upload the pics as soon as I have them, I didn't take any of mine, sorry.
I hope you enjoyed your Human Rights Day!

I think we hear about human trafficking-but it's such initiatives that make us aware that we need to fight this. I am saddened at how people are recruited and exploited-some didnt even know that they will be sold;some thought that they would be getting decent jobs to escape the poverty or circumstances that they are in. I'm glad that as the world we are saying-"enough is enough' when we stand together we cannot be defeated!
ReplyDeleteIt's very sad to even think that people go to sleep at night in a bed paid for by the buying and selling of human beings. It's a disgusting act, but a relief to know that more and more people and organisations are becoming aware of it and actually stepping up to help combat human trafficking. And you're right... enough is enough!
ReplyDeleteI tweeted this the other day, the thing that disgusts me most about human traffickers is that they rarely nab people off of the streets. They are leeches! Women go into other women's houses and sell them a dream that doesn't exist, they take advantage of people's situations babathembise iZulu nomhlaba sengathi ezabo. Life gets real whe the boogyman has looked your mother in the eye and promised to take care of you and the whole family. I'm glad women like you are put your voices behind causes like this one.

ReplyDeleteThank you so much and I'm happy to know that more and more people are aware of the possibilities of this happening, but when you are being sold a life that you've always dreamt of, it's very easy to fall prey to the trap! The more people know, the better! I'm behind this cause 100% , thank you for taking the time to visit and comment on my blog.
Lots of love and appreciation

That lovely Engrish of mine aside, I'm really glad that you put your clout behind such causes. We need more voices and more platforms.
